Early Head Start

Through the Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership grant, JO’S Early Learning Academy serves infants and toddlers under the age of three. Partnering with Acelero Learning and Next Door allows us to provide comprehensive serves at both our north and south side sites. Early Head Start (EHS) is designed to promote the development of the children, and to empower parents and caregivers as primary teachers of their children.

Program Highlights
Early Head Start services are available at no cost to children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old. Acelero Learning is our partner at 4801 W. North Avenue, while Next Door partners with us at 3207 W. Greenfield Ave.  Through home visiting, conference calls, and parent education both programs assist families in meeting their personal goals to achieve self-sufficiency across a wide variety of domains.  Family engagement events include mobile libraries, fresh produce giveaways, and games that lift the spirit. Vision, hearing, lead and developmental screenings help monitor the childrens’ health and overall well being.

 Curriculum
Early Head Start programs provide similar services as preschool Head Start programs, but they are tailored for the unique needs of infants and toddlers. EHS curriculums are play-based around five domains:

  • Physical Development
  • Social Emotional Development
  • Cognitive Development
  • Language and Literacy Development
  • Approaches to Learning Development

These five domains prepare children for transitioning to our Head Start program, as well as providing continued growth and development and success in school and life.
